1. Who we are
Appt Jobs ("Appt", "we", "us", or "our") is a service operated by Appt Jobs Limited, a company registered in Nigeria with its principal place of business in Lagos, Nigeria. Appt is a personal job strategist service that provides tailored job alerts and career resources to job seekers across multiple channels, including our chatbot, web and email, with WhatsApp being one of several delivery channels rather than the sole means of access.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over it. It applies to your use of the Appt chatbot and messaging channels, our website at www.apptjobs.com, and any related services (together, the "Service").
We process personal data in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023 (NDPA) and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR), and we act as a data controller in respect of the personal data described below.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data (such as health, religion, or political views). Please do not send us such information.
3. How we use your information
We use your personal data to:
- Create and manage your account and free trial.
- Match you with tailored job opportunities and deliver job alerts.
- Provide career resources: interview tips, study materials, CV and cover-letter guidance, and career counselling.
- Recommend the job-search strategy that best fits your goals and profile.

4. Legal bases for processing
Under the NDPA, we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Consent: which you give when you sign up and share your information through the chatbot. You may withdraw consent at any time (see Section 9).
- Performance of a contract: to deliver the subscription service you have signed up for.
- Legitimate interests: to improve the Service, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep our platform secure, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Legal obligation: where we must process data to comply with applicable law.
5. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as follows:
- Employers and recruiters: where you choose to apply to a role or ask us to share your profile or CV, we share the information necessary to facilitate that application or introduction.
- Service providers: trusted third parties who help us operate the Service (e.g. hosting and cloud providers, our messaging platform, and analytics tools), under contracts that require them to protect your data.
- Payment processor: which handles your payment securely. Your card and bank details are processed by them, not stored by us.
- Messaging platforms: where you interact with us over a third-party channel such as WhatsApp (operated by Meta Platforms), your use of that channel is also subject to the provider's own privacy terms. WhatsApp is one of several channels we offer.
- Legal and safety: where required by law, court order, or regulator, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Appt, our users, or others.
Some of these providers may process data outside Nigeria. Where data is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure an adequate level of protection consistent with the NDPA.
6. Payments
Subscription payments are handled by our third-party payment processor. We receive confirmation that a payment has succeeded or failed, together with limited transaction metadata, but we do not collect or store your full payment-card or bank-account numbers.
7. Data retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it. You may ask us to delete your data at any time (see Section 9).
8. How we protect your information
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. These include access controls, secure hosting, and limiting staff access to data on a need-to-know basis. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
